CHILD SEATS IN MOTORHOMES AND CAMPERVANS
We care about the safety of your family while you travel around Australia. Therefore, we have provided you with this information to help you decide which rental vehicle is the right one for you and your children.
The law in Australia states that children up to seven years of age are to be safely fastened in a child restraint as follows –
Age of Child | Size of Child | Child Seat Type | Correct Position in Vehicle |
0-6 Months | 0-9 kgs | Rear Facing | Rear Row of Seats |
6 Months – 4 Years | 9-18 kgs | Forward Facing | Rear Row of Seats |
4 – 7 Years | 14-26 kgs | Booster Seat | Front or Rear Row of Seats |
The ages specified above are only a guide for the safety of your child. If your child is too small for the child seat specified for their age keep them in their current restraint for as long as necessary. Alternatively, if your child is too large for a restraint specified for their age, move them to the next level of child seat.
