Day 1
Hobart
Begin your spring motorhome adventure in the blue skied capital of Hobart. Enjoy a leisurely day exploring the historic streets of Salamanca, take the iconic ferry to the Museum of Old and New Art (Mona) or capture panoramic views from the easily accessible summit of Mount Wellington. If you’re interested in a scenic drive, make your way down the Huon Valley and appreciate the blossom covered apple trees and green paddocks stretching off into the distance.
Day 2
Hobart
Witness springs full effect at the Royal Botanical Gardens just a fifteen minute drive from the city centre. Wander through the quaint Japanese Garden with the blossom in full effect and enjoy a picnic amongst the tulips throughout the garden. Those visiting in October shouldn’t miss a trip to the gardens for the Spring Tulip Festival providing entertainment and culinary delights in a spectacular spring environment.
Day 3
Hobart to Richmond

Just 25 kilometres outside of Hobart you will discover the historic town of Richmond home to the oldest bridge in Australia. Enjoy a picnic besides the river, feed the ducks and appreciate the array of local flora in full bloom. Explore hidden corners of antique stores, get lost in the local maze or enjoy an authentic Devonshire tea at one of the many sandstone restaurants and cafes lining the main street.
Day 4
Richmond to Port Arthur
Distance : 90km
Time : 1 Hour 20 Minutes
Learn about Tasmanian convict history down the Tasman Peninsula at Port Arthur. Take a guided tour of the ruins or stroll at leisure around the stately gardens and parklands dotted with elms, oaks and conifers planted by the convicts. Explore the reconstructed 1850’s Commandant’s Garden or take a trip to nearby Highcroft to witness blooming peonies.
Day 5
Port Arthur to St Helens
Distance : 280km
Time : 4 Hours
Take your self-drive adventure further up Tasmania’s east coast to the picturesque town of St Helens. Visit nearby Bay of Fires for great surfing facilities and to encounter the unique lichen-covered rocks. Head up Paddy’s Head for amazing views or visit Pub in the Paddock for fantastic country hospitality in a lush farm environment.
Day 6
St Helens to Scottsdale

Time : 1 Hours 30 Minutes
Venture through lust green paddocks to the town of Scottsdale in North East Tasmania. Visit nearby Nabowla and be wowed by the remarkable Bridestowe Lavender Estate, the oldest and largest lavender plantation in the world. Let your senses be overwhelmed by row after row of scented lavender stretching off towards the distant hills. Don’t forget to take home iconic Bobbie the Bridestowe Lavender Heat Pack Bear on your way out!
Day 7
Scottsdale to Longford
Distance : 80km
Time : 1 Hour
Make a special trip to Longford to witness the spectacular rose garden at Woolmers Estate. The National Rose Garden displays all rose families and represents one of the finest collections of roses in the southern hemisphere. Here you will find the earliest European and China roses in the central parterre garden, 117 metres long and 35 metres wide. Afterwards visit Brickendon Colonial Farm Village to experience a UNESCO listed family farm.
Day 8
Longford to Launceston
Distance : 30km
Time : 30 Minutes
Make the short drive to Launceston, Tasmania’s second most populated city. Relax with a picnic at Cataract Gorge Reserve just moments from the heart of the CBD. Wander through the 1986 gardens offering daffodil walks, picnic grounds, a music pavilion, cliff top promenades and giant exotic trees. Head towards the seaport for dining besides the Tamar River.
Day 9
Launceston
Delve into the heart of the Tamar Valleys popular wineries including Josef Chromy and Pipers Brook. Spring is the ideal time for a wine tour with lush green vines, rolling paddocks and crisp sunny days.
Day 10
Launceston to Devonport
Distance : 100km
Time : 1 Hour 15 Minutes
Navigate to Devonport, the heartbeat of the north-west coast of Tasmania. On your way be sure to stop at Christmas Hills Raspberry Farms or Anvers Chocolates to sample sweet delights produced by the area. Enjoy the drive of the north-west through the iconic Tasmanian landscape dotted with a variety of flora. In Devonport, visit the Tasmanian Arboretum and witness trees from ancient times across 66 acres of botanical tree park.
Day 11
Devonport to Wynyard
Distance : 65km
Time : 1 Hour
Wynyard is perhaps home to Tasmania’s most iconic spring destination, the popular Bloomin’ Tulips Festival held in late September to early October. Wander through the idyllic rhododendron gardens, watch the firework display and marvel at the sea of tulips spreading out before you at glorious Table Cape. You won’t want to miss this magnificent spring spectacle!
Day 12
Wynyard to Strahan
Distance : 200km
Time : 2 Hours 30 Minutes
Head towards the heart of the Wild West coast to the harbour side village of Strahan. Don’t miss a boat journey along the still and reflective waters of the world heritage listed Gordon River. In the afternoon explore wild waves and rolling dunes at Ocean Beach or take a scenic 30 minute walk to Hogarth Falls.
Day 13
Strahan to Mt Field National Park
Distance : 260km
Time : 4 Hours
Venture south and stay at the beautiful Mt Field National Park. Explore the iconic Russell falls, walk amongst ancient trees and enjoy an unbeatable afternoon tea in Waterfalls Café. Enjoy small circuit walks or longer treks to suit your physical requirements.
Day 14
Mt Field National Park to Hobart
Distance : 80km
Time : 1 Hour 30 Minutes
Make your way back to the capital, stopping off at the quaint town of New Norfolk on the way. Enjoy a breathtaking walk in the Derwent Valley and marvel at the array of flora in bloom. Nose around the many antique furniture stores, visit historic Willow Court or enjoy a laidback lunch at one of the cosy cafes before returning your motorhome to the Hobart depot, just a short drive away.
