1. Great Ocean Road
Driving the Great Ocean Road is a must when visiting Victoria. It is 243km’s of heritage-listed road and is probably the most famous road in Australia. If your children are a bit older, this is definitely a holiday option for you. Along the way you can experience an array of world class beaches and idyllic natural scenery. The drive will take you through the coastal towns of Torquay, Lorne, Anglesea, Apollo Bay and Port Campbell. Lorne is a favourite holiday destination with its array of restaurants, pubs and cafes and the kids will love the Foreshore playground which is themed to look like a pier with a real boat.
Do your children like to surf? Then Torquay, the surfing heart of Victoria, is the place to stop.
You can also visit Australia’s oldest lighthouse in Apollo Bay via the Otways Ranges, or go platypus spotting in the ancient mountain Lake Elizabeth. When you get to Port Campbell, you will see the iconic Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge.

2. Mornington Peninsula

3. Echuca and the Murray
Echuca is the paddlesteamer capital in Australia with the largest fleet of paddlesteamers in the country. Echuca is a perfect holiday getaway for a more relaxing experience and, of course, a tour down the Murray River on a paddlesteamer which is sure to be a hit with the kids.
The Murray River region is steeped in rich history and culture, perfect for the history buffs in the family. Another great attraction to visit while in the area would be the Gunbower Island State Forest. The wetlands and the billabongs of the Gunbower forest are internationally recognised are the are is known for its spectacular bird life. 4. Phillip Island
You would be hard pressed to find an animal cuter than a penguin and what better place to see these cute fairy penguins in their natural habitat than the Penguin Parade on Phillip Island. Here visitors can watch the daily migration of these cute little creatures from the ocean to their nests. But the animal attractions don’t stop there. Seal Rocks is home to over 16,000 fur seals and are definitely entertaining to watch due to their playful antics.
