Day 1
Hobart
Discover the stunning natural capital of Australia’s Apple Isle. Enjoy a walk through historic Salamanca and Battery Point and sip on a coffee at one of the many top-notch cafes. Stroll around the picturesque wharf and take a boat trip to the world-famous Museum of Old and New Art (MONA), the largest privately funded Museum in Australia.
Day 2
Hobart
Venture up Mount Wellington and experience spectacular panoramic views of the city from 1271 metres above sea level. Take a drive outside the city to the Huon and walk amongst the trees at the Tahune AirWalk, sample the fresh local produce along the way and visit one of the boutique wineries.
Day 3
Hobart to Richmond
Visit the oldest bridge and gaol in Australia built by convicts in the early 1800s or witness Hobart in the 1820s at the intricate Hobart Town Historical Model Village. Peruse the many galleries, antique stores and arts and crafts or stop by Sweets and Treats to sample some old style lollies with good old fashioned service. On the way visit one of the unique wineries in the Coal River Valley and enjoy a long lunch and crisp local wines.
Day 4
Richmond to Port Arthur
Visit Australia’s most significant open air museum, a World Heritage Listed site and experience a slice of convict history. Take a guided tour of the ruins or later be part of an eerie paranormal investigation. See Tasmania’s first operational mine or enjoy a popular Tasman Island Cruise and witness dolphins, whales and the magnificent rugged Tasmanian coastline.
Day 5
Port Arthur to Freycinet
Visit Australia’s most significant open air museum, a World Heritage Listed site and experience a slice of convict history. Day 6
Freycinet
Spend the day exploring Freycinet National Park and enjoy breathtaking views from the famous Wine Glass Bay Lookout. Walk the circuit track and marvel at pristine coastline, rugged native forest and an array of Tasmanian wildlife. Spend the afternoon exploring the many walking tracks in the area.
Day 7
Freycinet to St Helens
Enjoy a hearty meal in the historic Pub in the Paddock and see local memorabilia. Take a walk to nearby Eddystone Lighthouse and enjoy the natural beauty of Mt William National Park. Make the short trip to spectacular Bay of Fires or Binalong way and see pristine Tasmanian coastline.
Day 8
St Helens to Launceston
Explore Launceston’s scenic Cataract Gorge just two minutes outside of Launceston’s CBD with its many walking trails and bike tracks. Take a ride in the world’s largest single span chairlift and experience magnificent views of the surrounds.
Day 9
Launceston to Devonport
Visit the Don River Railway in Devonport, home to the largest collection of steam locomotive and passenger carriages in the state, or stop by the Bass Strait Maritime Centre and learn all there is to know about this famous stretch of water. Dine at a local restaurant serving the best of the area’s produce.
Day 10
Devonport to Cradle Mountain
Take time to experience the beauty of Cradle Mountain. Walk around stunning Dove Lake and immerse yourself in rugged Tasmanian Wilderness. Spend the afternoon at the local lodge cosied up beside a roaring fire.
Day 11
Cradle Mountain
Spend the day exploring the myriad of bushwalks in the area and experiencing authentic Tasmanian Wilderness. Take a ski trip to Cradle Mountain Canyons or if you want a bird’s eye view enjoy a magnificent scenic flight over the stunning area.
Day 12
Cradle Mountain to Strahan
Walk around the scenic Macquarie Harbour and witness Strahan’s historical buildings. Travel a short distance to the pristine sands of magnificent Ocean Beach or take an adventurous half-day fast jet boat ride up King River.
Day 13
Strahan
Hop on one of the famed Gordon River Cruises and navigate through one of the most unspoilt World Heritage areas on earth. Take a trip to nearby Hell’s Gates and visit the iconic light house.
Day 14
Strahan to Hobart
Make your way back to the capital. On the way stop by scenic Mt Field National Park and take a short twenty minute walk to magnificent Russell Falls or weave between giant trees on the Tall Trees Walk, an easy half an hour. Stop at New Norfolk for lunch and peruse the many antique stores or visit the Salmon Ponds at feeding time.
