Day 1
CAIRNS
Once you collect your Cruisin’ Motorhome from Sheridan Street, Cairns, you will be spoilt for choice for things to do. For those wanting to view the sea life from dry land, you can head to the Cairns aquarium or for those looking for water adventure, you can head down under the sea and get the chance to swim up close with the sea life in the Great Barrier Reef. For a leisurely afternoon stroll, a visit to the Cairns Botanical Gardens is a must. The wonderful thing about this coastal town is you can pull over to cook yourself breakfast, lunch or dinner, with a view straight from your motorhome. Your adventure does not end once the sun goes down. Pull into the Big 4 Cairns Coconut Resort for the evening and take advantage of the extensive facilities that they have on offer.
Day 2
MISSION BEACH
With just a two hour drive ahead of you today, you will be given plenty of opportunities to enjoy some spectacular scenery and activities along the way. Just outside of Cairns, you will find yourself travelling through Edmonton. Here you will find Sugarworld Waterpark. This is a must stop for those water lovers young and old. Back out onto the A1 Highway, further along the way be sure to visit the stunning Josephine falls in the Wooroonooran National Park. Another point of interest is Paronella Park. The historic grounds give you an old world Spanish vibe whilst being in Australia. Once you arrive at Mission Beach, you may want to head straight to Big 4 Beachcomber Coconut Holiday Park after such an adventure filled day.
Day 3
TOWNSVILLE
The first stop on day 3, should be via The Golden Gumboot. Standing at almost 7.9 meters tall, you will definitely need to take a few photos for your memories. As you trek closer to Townsville, a stop at Cardwell will be a definite must do. Stop for a quick pie and catch the beautiful views of the ocean looking toward Hinchinbrook Island. Travel to Ingham for some beautiful country views at the TYTO Wetlands before arriving at the tropical paradise of Townsville. You can either grab a meal at The Strand before going to Rowes Bay to cook directly from your motorhome, with the lovely ocean breeze throughout the campground at Rowes Bay Beachfront Holiday Park.
Day 4
AIRLIE BEACH
If you get the chance to get an early start, our recommendation is to head up to the Castle Hill Lookout to catch the sunrise over the ocean. Even if you don’t rise early enough, this stunning lookout is definitely worth a stop. From here, heading out onto the Bruce Highway for a drive south towards Airlie Beach. Not too far outside of Townsville, you will stumble across the Billabong Sanctuary. This is a must see for the true Australian Wildlife experience. You may even get the chance to have a photo cuddling a Koala, wombat or for the adventurous, a python. Back out onto the highway, your next stop will be when you arrive in Bowen. You have one of two options once you arrive. Either heading straight up to the Rotary Lookout for a spectacular coastal view or to the Bowen Water Park for your lunch break while the children play in the seaside water facilities. Once you arrive in Airlie Beach, you will be spoilt for choice with the beaches to visit and seaside boardwalks. Park your motorhome for the night at Big 4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort and take advantage of the extensive facilities that they have on offer.
Day 5
MACKAY
With only a 2 hour drive ahead of you today, you will get the opportunity to take a cruise around the Whitsundays before heading towards Mackay. With so many to choose from, you can select the cruise that suits your needs. With half day cruises on offer you can spend the day out on the water and then board your Cruisin’ Motorhome and head straight towards Mackay. Once arriving, you can take advantage of the free entry to the Bluewater Lagoon. For the night, head out to the Mackay Harbour to stay at the Big 4 Caravan Park for the evening. This is centrally located close by to the patrolled Harbour Beach for those looking for the perfect beach for swimming.
Day 6
ROCKHAMPTON
For breakfast with a view, head to Harbour Beach. Park the motorhome in the carpark and cook your breakfast whilst watching the waves lap the sand. As you depart Mackay, you could make a trip via Action Paintball before heading out onto the Highway towards Rockhampton. Arriving in Rockhampton, take the turn off towards Yeppoon. The town is filled with stunning beaches and look outs. Definitely worth the visit along the way. For the evening, head to Big 4 Rockhampton to park your motorhome amongst the swaying palm trees for a night of rest in the tropics.
Day 7
BUNDABERG
With a short drive to get to Bundaberg, you can afford to head off the highway and make a stop in Seventeen Seventy. The Bustard Bay and Wave Lookout alone, make the trip off the highway worth it. With a selection of country towns and stops along the way leaving you with enough time to go on that Rum tasting tour and see all the different products they have to offer. With its country fields and ocean views, you can pick what part of Bundaberg you would like to experience for the night. Sea breezes or Green lush paddocks. The Big 4 Cane Village Holiday parks offer great facilities to assist with relaxation before another day on the road tomorrow.
Day 8
NOOSA
Begin your morning with a stroll through the Bundaberg Botanical Gardens before heading out on the road towards Noosa. Along the way you will discover Snakes Down under Reptile Park, a true Australian outback experience. Veering off the A1 Highway, head out to Hervey Bay for a day full of activities along the coast. For those travelling with families, Wetside Water Park is definitely worth the visit to cool down on a warm day. Arriving in Noosa, you will be spoilt for choice with an array of beaches and lookouts to see. Get your camera ready and take a walk along the Coast Track to take full advantage of all the stunning lookouts. Head to the Noosa River Holiday Park for the evening with direct access to the Noosa River.
Day 9
SUNSHINE COAST
Day 9 will have you driving less than an hour to your next destination – Sunshine Coast. With a number of water parks and beaches to choose from, you will enjoy your full day of fun on the Sunshine Coast. Head over to Sea Life Sunshine Coast to get a close-up view of life underwater. Walk through the glass tunnel and watch the sea life swim past right above you. Visit the Tidal touch pool for the ultimate up close and personal experience. From here, spend your afternoon relaxing by one of the many beaches in the area. Back in Maroochydore for a night of luxury at the Rivershore Resort. With resort style pool and water slides, you can sit back and relax while the children entertain themselves.
Day 10
BRISBANE
With another short drive ahead of you towards Brisbane, you will have plenty of time to explore the big city. You could do one of the many tours available or hop on a ferry to the south side and enjoy South Bank. Brisbane is a big beautiful city where you can catch up on that much-deserved shopping spree or view some of the spectacular street performers. Take a picnic to the botanical gardens or South Bank or even a drive up to the top of Mount Coo-tha to take in a view of the city as a whole and relax while you feel on top of the world. Once you have taken in all that Brisbane has to offer, head back to Eagle Farm to return your motorhome and maybe even swap stories with the friendly staff
