Whale Watching Points in Australia

Australia is one of the best places in the world to watch whales migrating to and from Antarctica. Humpback whales, Southern Right Whales, Orcas (Killer Whales), Dwarf Minke Whales and Pilot Whales among others, migrate from Antarctica to Australia to mate, breed and raise their young. After which they head back toward the south pole to spend the rest of the year.

Migrations patterns vary every year but May to September is an excellent time to spot whales from the coastlines of Tasmania, South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.

Begin your journey from the sleepy town of Hobart in Tasmania and drive up along the east coast of Australia all the way up to Cairns between May and September to have the whale spotting adventure of a lifetime. Your 'whale'come.
