Day 1 Hobart
Lap up the vibrant summer atmosphere in the sunny capital of Hobart nestled on the estuary of the Derwent River. If you’re visiting
over the New Year period don’t miss out on the Taste of Tasmania festival offering up the state’s finest local produce and providing a
lively atmosphere. Watch as the yachts trail in the harbour completing the famous Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. Explore the many hip cafes and restaurants of Salamanca and take a drive up Mount Wellington for clear summer views of the city.
Day 2: Hobart
Catch the iconic ferry to the Museum of Old and New Art (Mona) to experience the beautiful Derwent River and Australia’s most
controversial and quirky museum. In the evening don’t miss out on fresh seafood down by the wharf.
Day 3: Hobart to Cygnet
Take a charming drive through the picture-perfect Huon Valley to the quiet village of Cygnet just forty minutes from the capital. Stop along the way at a range of farm gates to buy ancient Tasmanian apples and freshly-picked berries. Explore the many antique stores of Cygnet and admire the historical buildings. Enjoy lunch at the iconic Red Velvet Lounge known for its extensive wine list and great
menu featuring local delights.
Day 4: Cygnet to Coles Bay, Freycinet National Park
Venture back through the Huon Valley on your way up Tasmania’s striking east coast. On the way don’t miss a stop at the Sorell Fruit Farm where you can pick your own cool climate fruit including raspberries, strawberries and mouth-watering cherries. Your next destination is the popular summer hub of Coles Bay; the gateway to Freycinet National Park. Become part of the heightened atmosphere when you arrive and head down to the local tavern where local backpackers can be found sampling boutique Tasmanian beer. Enjoy take-away fish and chips at the end of the local jetty where you will discover prime views of the Hazards Mountain Range.
Day 5: Coles Bay, Freycinet National Park
Immerse yourself in the pure Tasmanian wilderness and experience one of the many bushwalking opportunities in Freycinet National Park. The prime summer weather conditions offer breathtaking views from the Wineglass Bay Lookout. Hike up Mount Amos or walk the popular Hazards Beach Circuit. Be sure to take sun cream and a water bottle to protect yourself from the heat. In the evening pick up some fresh oysters from Freycinet Marine Farm and enjoy them at your outdoor dining area.
Day 6: Coles Bay, Freycinet National Park to Binalong Bay
Welcome to the small but perfectly formed seaside oasis of Binalong Bay. Spend the day at Binalong Bay Beach known for pristine
sand and temperate water and participate in a variety of water-sport activities including surfing, fishing, boating, sailing and kayaking.
Enjoy a coastal walk and sample local seafood.
Day 7: Binalong Bay to Bridport
Enjoy a night in the peaceful town of Bridport. Experience Australia’s finest public golf course at Barnbougle Dunes or simply lie on one of the untouched beaches. Take a small trip to nearby Nabowla where you will discover one of summer’s most iconic sights at the
Bridestowe Estate Lavender Farm.
Day 8: Bridport to Launceston
Arrive in Tasmania’s second largest city, home to charming Georgian architecture and leafy green parks smack bang in the city centre. Enjoy a scenic walk to Cataract Gorge where you can swim and take a ride on Australia’s longest single span chair lift. Wine enthusiasts will delight in a tour of the nearby Tamar Valley known for producing some of the country’s finest cool climate wine and home to the
famous Josef Chromy Winery and the Jansz Wine Room.
Day 9: Launceston to Richmond
Make your way to the heart of the Coal River Valley wine region to the historic town of Richmond home to Australia’s oldest bridge and gaol. Explore the main street with its many antique stores or simply enjoy a picnic lunch besides the bridge, built by convicts in the early 1800s. Take a drive to some of the nearby wineries offering tastings of locally produced wines.
Day 10: Richmond to Hobart
Return to the Cruisin’ Hobart branch to return your motorhome. On the way experience more of the regions vineyards including popular Frogmore Creek Winery known for its spectacular setting amongst the vines and producing the finest lunch in Tasmania.
